What a psychological thriller!

This book had a little bit of everything. Not only did I not see a lot of the twists and turns coming but it was emotional and raw. The storyline was great and kept you wanting more. The characters were likable and believable. This was a good all-around book and so worth the read!

Bitter-Sweet Perspective On Memories

A bitter-sweet story that can remind you how fast life can change, and how different things seem from a new perspective.

An emotional ride!

This was such a crazy and emotional ride. I really could not put the book down. The handling of the unreliable narrator was so masterful, I never felt like I was being lied to our intentionally misled. And I got so attached to the characters of Rose, Violet and Mei. And Thorne's heartbreaking situation ... I was crying by the end. This will stick with me for a while. I also loved the inclusion of ASL! Brilliant work!

Through tears šŸ˜āœØļø

Still sitting with the ending of this beautiful book but I absolutely loved it. The way the atmosphere and mood changes as the story progresses is intriguing and keeps you wanting to know more. I was coming up with theories left and right only to be left with a beautifully haunting ending that will be with me for a while. This is not a genre I typically read but I am a fan of films in this genre and after this, I will be reading more. The majority of the book is both eerie and dark while still presenting a wonderful life and love story unfolding. I loved this book and would definitely recommend it to anybody especially if you enjoy psychological thrillers and books that rip your heart out in the best way.

First book to make me cry in years!

This was a great read. The time skips made it a little hard at times to keep tracking what was going on. But, in the end, it all made sense and was supposed to be that way. WARNING - The end really hit hard on my emotions and had me struggling to read through tears.

Run, don’t walk. You need this book.

Coming from someone who has experienced her body and mind fighting her through every turn, I have never felt so seen in a book. The grief, the guilt, the struggle to survive, the want to give up, your mind and body betraying you… I kept it together throughout the book for the most part, almost brought to tears on several occasions but when I read the epilogue all bets were off. I sobbed like a baby and though I’ve finished the book, I am not well in the head. I haven’t had a book hang over like this since throne of glass which is insane because I read books like there’s no tomorrow.
Note for a.c. Toy: thank you. Thank you writing this, for helping me through my own grief that I didn’t know I was still harboring, for making me feel seen and heard when I felt voiceless for so long, for inspiring me. But also screw you for making me fall in love with your characters and sob like a baby for what you do to them.

Emotionally devastated in the best way

If you love mysteries, tragic love stories, and triumph after trauma, READ THIS BOOK.

Rose was such a compelling character and her situation had me on the edge of my seat.
I LOVE a book that keeps me guessing and makes me cry - and this delivered on all counts.

The ending was mind blowing.
Thorne is such a sweetheart and I still get choked up thinking about the raw emotions

Rose's struggles, and the relationships between her, Violet and Mei were all so genuine and felt relatable.

Mysterious and thrilling but full of so much heart and love

This book is astoundingly powerful in so many ways. The initial plot line alone is incredibly engaging as we see the MC slowly deal with the ever mysterious dreams she is dealing with, with a resolution that is both heart breaking but heart healing as well. There is tension and a little bit of a thriller that keeps your mind accutely engaged throughout the read. The characters feel so deeply real, with their love for one another, their interactions and dialogue and you feel warmth radiating off the pages as their relationships grow together. At its core, and with a few subplots, we see love in so many different facets, from deep romantic love, to the love of family, to what it is to truly live a life full of love with those around you and this is was so powerful to see in a book like this. The way the characters live fully in relationship to the MC's sister, who is deaf, is some of the most poignant commentary on what true relationship and life together is that I've seen in a long time and it was wonderfully and deeply written and I am so glad the author incorporated this so effortlessly into the story. It makes it so incredibly real and you feel it. There are a few twists and turns that pierce you throughout the story, and it is indeed a book you will want to finish in as few sittings as possible to see where it is going. A truly beautiful book that shares the deep pain that can come from love, but also the prevailing nature of that same love against all odds.
